Midsummer Online Auction June 20-28
Yes, no doubt about it! OUUC is definitely zooming in on an excellent Auction, and your help will make it a splendid success.
You’ll want to be there (via Zoom) for the next big event: “Midsummer Auction—Opening Night!” (The Zoom link will be posted on the OUUC website and through emails the week of June 14.)
The Opening Night event will take place on June 20 from 5:00 to 6:00 pm. We’ll roll out the auction with brilliant entertainment, stunning surprises—and, yes, actual door prizes. That’s right, tangible, non-digital door prizes delivered safely to real doors—possibly yours.
Going with the Midsummer theme, The Merry Shakespeareans will welcome you to the official opening of the Auction, then proceed to dazzle with witty skits, goofy takes on Zoom technology, and straight-up previews of some terrific auction items—and the auction site will also be open for bids. Bidding runs June 20 – 28.
If you hadn’t already heard, 2020’s auction bidding will run entirely online. Now is the perfect time to pre-register your credit card, so you can jump right into the bidding. Sharon Love has created a how-to-register video here, and registration is now open!
Speaking of auction items: if you haven’t already, please donate items for the auction. The current plan is to play it safe: Donate with a focus on such things as stay-at-home services, porch deliveries, virtual gatherings, games, staycations, gift cards, online demonstrations, unique handmade items, and more. Some health safety restrictions may lift in the coming months, giving more flexibility to how donation items like wine tastings and outings are handled.
To help with ideas for your donation or to check out beckoning items already listed in the “Catalog,” go to https://ouuc.dreamhosters.com/midsummer-online-auction/. Already in the Catalog are donations like a crab cake dinner delivered to your door. How about handmade soaps or an angora scarf? Or dozens of holiday cookies, or a private stay in a cabin at Ocean Shores? There are gift cards for curbside pick-up of specialty cocktails, for virtual bookstore shopping, and much more. And you may even bid to come up with a sermon topic of your choice, which Reverend Mary will gratefully deliver at a future service.
To add your donation to those already listed simply proceed to the Auction Website at https://ouuc.dreamhosters.com/midsummer-online-auction/, then click on “Auction Website,” then “Donate an Item.”
Your generosity will help keep OUUC strong. When the bidding period arrives with the solstice, you will also be able to “raise the paddle” for funds to upgrade the church’s electronic communication needs—as we have a bit more Zooming to go as a congregation.
Let’s make this auction a stunning success.
