Rob, originally from southern California, began attending Unitarian Universalist services in Denver, Colorado in the late 1960s. With his wife Anne, he has been a member of several UU congregations over the years including those in Springfield, IL, Rochester, NY, Yakima, WA and Aberdeen, WA.  He and Anne first joined OUUC in Olympia in 1986.  In 1989 Rob and Anne and several other Aberdeen, WA residents chartered a UU fellowship in Grays Harbor, WA. In spite of the unfortunate acronym of UUGH for the UU Congregation of Grays Harbor that fellowship had a 14-year existence of providing a liberal religious option in rural WA.  Rob served in Board positions in the Yakima and Grays Harbor fellowships.  In 2013 Rob and Anne moved to Olympia and renewed their active membership with OUUC.

Professionally Rob worked in the food processing industry for 40 years in general management positions and spent the last 28 years of his career working for Ocean Spray Cranberries, Inc. based out of Grays Harbor. A graduate with a BA in Biology from San Jose State University, Rob spent 3 years in the Army, one year of which was in Southeast Asia. In deciding where to retire, Rob and Anne were greatly influenced by the strong community presence that OUUC provided and chose to retire in Olympia.

At OUUC Rob has been involved with Buildings and Grounds, Adopt-a-Plot, Share the Plate, and Hospitality committees and has enjoyed many adult education classes offered at OUUC. Rob’s interests, besides playing tennis several days a week, include traveling, bird watching, hiking, gardening, drawing, bridge, reading historical novels, volunteering for nonprofits and trying to keep up with new technology. Rob and Anne have two sons, Quinn and Michael, both living on the West Coast.
