The Children’s Annual Meeting moved online on Sunday March 22nd, and the kids who joined that call made some nominations! Now all our kids can vote on the final choices. Voting closes on April 1st.

What are you voting on? You are picking:

  1. What the Summer Religious Education program on Sunday mornings will be
  2.  Where we will donate half of the money collected in the Children’s Offering for the 2020-21 year
  3.  What the kids will do for a service project this spring/early summer

And the Nominations for the Summer RE Program Are:

Circle of Trees

The program uses trees as an entry point to understand and connect with life on earth. Across many cultures, trees are recognized as a symbol for life on earth—for example, the biblical Tree of Life. Even young children understand trees as sustainers of life, fundamental engines of life on earth as we know it. Trees create and purify the air we breathe. They house and provide resources for myriad creatures, including humans. They bring us peace, joy, and delight.

Dr Seuss and the 7 Principles

We would have a different Dr. Seuss book each week and then have activities and discussion tying that story to our UU principles.

Animals of the Pacific Northwest

We would explore our 7th Principle (the interdependent web of life) by learning more about the animals that live in this area.

For the Share the Offering:

  1. The Hands on Children’s Museum
  2. Pandemic Relief Efforts, to help people who have been affected by the pandemic
  3. Climate Change, to help stop it
  4. Endangered Animals, to help save them

For the Service Project:

  1. Making cat and dog toys to donate to the animal shelter
  2. Writing cards or making drawings to mail to people isolated right now
  3. Starting seeds at home and sharing the plant starts with those in need
