Community Opportunities: Sharing Meals
OUUC is very active in our community providing meals in a variety of settings on a months basis. Additional volunteers and cooks are always welcome. A brief summary of each opportunity is provided below, with needs, locations and contact resources. Watch the weekly e-blast for details.
Community Kitchen Crew: Third Friday night dinners
The COMMUNITY KITCHEN CREW prepares and serves dinner to those in need at the CCS Community Kitchen, located in the Salvation Army building on 5th & Plum Street.

Join a friendly team of 8-10 from OUUC who prepare and serve 140 meals to those in need at Olympia’s Community Kitchen. Who? Adults and youth 14 and older who are accompanied by an adult. Where? Meet at the Community Kitchen located in the basement of Salvation Army shelter at the corner of 5th Ave and Plum street in downtown Olympia. Enter the Community Kitchen from the alley between the Eagles Club and the Salvation Army building.
Overnight Shelter Meals:
Third and Fourth Wed Night Dinners
The Blue Apron Team welcome your generous donations of meals on the 3rd and 4th Wednesday evenings. Donations of main dishes (eg: casseroles, pasta, meat trays, soups, pots of beans and side dishes (eg: salads, vegetables, rice, potatoes, fruit, deviled eggs, desserts, etc.) makes that possible.
New volunteers are always welcome to bring a main or side dish, and/or come to the Shelter from 5:30 to 7:00 pm to serve the evening’s meal. Interfaith Works Overnight shelter

Interfaith Works Emergency Overnight Shelter has a long history of offering food and safe overnight shelter to our homeless neighbors, first as part of the Women’s Emergency Shelter, and since its beginning in 2014, and now the Adult Emergency Shelter in downtown Olympia. Each third and fourth Wednesday volunteers from our congregation provide and serve dinner at the Shelter. Currently we serve 65 adults.
Tiny Homes Sunday Dinner Second Sunday: Dinner for 10
We are providing food for the residents of the Tiny Houses in Olympia WA on the 2nd Sunday of every month. We need Dishes (main dish, sides, bread) to feed 10, help with delivering the food and eating with the residents.
