The best in us……

Challenging situations, like we are in now, can bring out the best in us. Some even say that our innate response to challenge is to come together and support each other. I am so grateful that this is what we are experiencing in the OUUC community–coming together and supporting each other. We have adapted quickly to a new reality and none of us has done it alone—it takes all of us.

One recent example of community support is the Congregational COVID Cabaret. With the support of Troy Fisher, our Music Director, many of you sent in your contributions of music and poetry to help us make sense of our current world. When we gathered virtually on May 2, our hearts were touched, and we laughed together. And, we came together to support the Thurston County COVID-19 Response Fund. This week we will send a check for $3945. Thank you for your generosity and care for our larger community.

Many of you have also been generous in your donations to the Minister’s Benevolence Fund, the fund that I use to help those in the congregation and community who request financial assistance that can’t be filled elsewhere. And, many of you have asked how the fund is doing. The fund is doing well, and I access it every week. Thank you!

With gratitude for each of you and the community that we create together, I offer blessings on your week.

Take care and be well,

Rev. Mary

P.S. This week’s Mid-week Meditation is a version of the Buddhist Loving Kindness meditation inspired by the work of teacher and author Tara Brach. Take a moment to expand your heart. Enjoy.
